ECP experience on life sciences
Life science on the extended has been a great experience due to care and well mannered treat from our lecture. everything is going well on our programme compared to the main stream as we get more attention and we are being helped like we are still in high school.
having many classes compared to other modules helps us to understand well but during winter it difficult to attend all classes which make me fall behind with work. everything seemed easy in the beginning of the year but they get tougher as time goes on. now we getti8ng lot of work in a short time and be expected to know everything in a short time but i guess they are preparing us for our worst nightmare which is our next 3 years in university.
other modules in ECP like ISC are giving me hard time because they always expect me to be perfect every time, that sometime make my self esteem drop because i do my best to produce what they need but it always wrong and in other times it make me feel like quitting university but i keep going because i know i will go through this and obtain my degree and pursue my career in science.
i think ECP is good for every average student in university because it make you realize that you can not cope in the main stream as the work load is too much for average and below average students. ECP really helps because you get to know thing you might have not known if you were in the main stream like how to write lab reports and the use of academic language and application of skills in the context of every tasks in all modules.
There is no need of being negative about the ECP as others criticize it saying it boring and the waste of time, which is not true because ECP is helping them to grasp well the university concepts and make them successful in the coming years where things get a bit hectic. facilitators and tutors may push us hard but they are opening us the way to the bright future which was going to be difficult in the main stream because you just fail your first term and have second thoughts about university and dropout then you don't achieve your goals of coming to university and not have a vivid future.
there are lot of difficulties we meet in the ECP but with the help of tutors and facilitators we manage to overcome them and seeking for help in lectures turn to be the best solution because our facilitators are students so they also have some difficulties in some other ways.
the things i would like to see changing in the ECP programme is the way other students treat others because some of the student behave in a way that others get distributed during lesson, this happen in all modules because there are those students who don't care about the presence of others and they don't recognize the importance of paying attention in class which lead to high rate of failing.
